Welcome to our site!
Centium Vineyard began in 2010 when we, Phil and Rochelle Kerney, found our special site at Springside, near Orange, N.S.W.
Our goal was (and is) to close plant esoteric and unusual clones of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and to grow and make our own hyper terroir focused natural wines.
Our vineyard is flourishing and the first wines were bottled in 2019.

Centium Vineyard sits astride a gently sloping, elevated site at 1010m to 1020m altitude, facing eastward toward the rising sun. We overlook local fields and forest with views to the mountains beyond Bathurst, some 80km away.
Vines planted thus far are:-
Chardonnay Clones Penfolds P58, Mendoza and Burgundy 277
and
Pinot Noir Clones Burgundy 667, 777 and MV6.
The vineyard is closely planted at 1.75m x 1m (5714vines/Ha), with rows oriented 17' west of North, across the east facing slope. A small forest and our home at the top of the 667 Pinot block provide protection from westerly sun and winds.
Vines are hand tended and hand watered when young, with a view to unirrigated organic integrated management when mature.
Phil began making natural wines in 2000 and was joined by Rochelle in 2005.
Scores of our delightfully full textured, fine and complex natural ferment wines have even been recognised with medals and Trophies in commercial wine shows.
They have also garnered much critical acclaim and Dark Horse and 5 Star ratings from James Halliday since 2003. We were nominated for 2014 Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the year.
Our well developed natural methods include whole bunch pressing of chardonnay direct to barrel, whole bunch fermentation of Pinot Noir, spontaneous malolactic fermentation and maturation in fine small French oak.
Corks are sadly too unreliable as a stopper for our tiny production.
We have used screwcaps since 2002 and have seen many, many older wines mature beautifully under these perfect conditions.
Ours is the pursuit of the perfect expression of terroir, focusing on using natural, traditional winemaking techniques to craft wines with balance, length of flavour, fine texture and above all a delicious, wholesome drinkability which stays with the wine throughout its bottle maturation journey.
These are the characteristics we have dedicated ourselves to and love to share.
Once tasted, always remembered.
Our newest wines, out now.
2021 was bountiful and ripe for Pinot, intense and miniscule for chardonnay.
